Nano Banana 2 is Google’s image model family, run by Google and reached through Mage. Nano Banana 2.1 is the newer model and the default: it costs less and improves on Nano Banana 2’s visual quality, prompt adherence, character consistency, and text. Both take up to 14 reference images, Characters, and Moodboards, edit an input image, and reach 4K. Nano Banana 2.1 runs unlimited from Pro Plus at 1K and on Max at 2K.

Overview

Unlimited generation by plan

Which plan runs each resolution unlimited, at the model’s base settings. Gems means that setting always costs Gems on that plan. Add-ons such as LoRAs, ControlNet, extra reference images, or reference videos may raise a run’s price and move it to a higher plan or to Gems.

What it supports on Mage

Best for

  • Work that needs many reference images
  • Moodboard-driven generation
  • Editing with a plain-language instruction

An example prompt to start from

Limitations

  • Google’s safety filter applies, and Mage cannot override it.
  • 4K always runs on Gems, and so does Nano Banana 2 at 2K.
  • Nano Banana 2.1 has no 512px setting.
  • No negative prompt field.

Use via API
