# GPT Image 2

> Run OpenAI's GPT Image 2, 2.5 Flare, and 2.5 Sunburst through Mage. Low quality runs unlimited from Basic; higher quality settings run on Gems. OpenAI's safety filter applies.

GPT Image 2 is OpenAI's image model, run by OpenAI and reached through Mage, in three versions: GPT Image 2, the faster GPT Image 2.5 Flare, and the premium GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst. All three take up to 15 reference images plus Characters, edit an input image, and reach 2K. At the Low quality setting they run unlimited from Basic.

## Unlimited generation by plan

Which plan runs each resolution unlimited, at the model's base settings. Gems means that setting always costs Gems on that plan.

Only the Low quality setting ever runs unlimited; Medium and above always cost Gems. Reference images add to a Low run's price: Low at 1K stays on Basic with one reference image, Low at 2K stays on Basic only with none, and Low with several references needs Pro or Pro Plus.

## Best for

* Prompts written as instructions rather than descriptions
* Editing with a plain-language instruction, where 2.5 Sunburst is strongest
* Work that needs many reference images

## Limitations

* OpenAI's safety filter applies, and Mage cannot override it.
* Only the Low quality setting runs unlimited; Medium, High, and above always cost Gems. Each reference image adds to the price, so Low at 2K stays on Basic only with no reference attached, and several references move a Low run to Pro or Pro Plus.
* No negative prompt field.
